Community-led change in maternity and neonatal care.
Creating meaningful change in maternity and neonatal care by amplifying the voices of women, birthing people and families.
Your Voice Matters – Tell Us About Your Experience So We Can Make Services Work Better for Families
Listening to Families: Inside Our Maternity and Neonatal Unit
We carry out regular 15 Steps Walks across maternity and neonatal areas, bringing together parents, midwives, doctors, neonatal staff and hospital leaders to review the environment of care from the perspective of families. These visits help us understand what care feels like and ensure improvements are shaped by lived experience, not assumptions.
Community Engagement
We meet families in the community, not just in hospitals. Through listening events, workshops and pop-up sessions, we gather feedback from a wide range of voices, including those who may not usually be heard. This insight drives our priorities and ensures services reflect the needs of the people who use them.
Working Together for More Equitable Maternity and Neonatal Care
We listen to families in the community — not just those who fill out surveys. Through targeted outreach with Black and Asian families, LGBTQIA+ parents, young mums, neurodivergent parents and those with additional needs or disabilities, we make sure every voice is represented in maternity and neonatal care. This helps us challenge inequality and co-produce safer, more equitable services for everyone.
What our Service-Users Say
Within a week of giving our feedback around an appointment that didn’t go so well, we received updates from the MNVP showing us that our feedback had already been listened to and actioned. Thank you.

Volunteering for the MNVP has allowed us to give back to the hospital who took such good care of our family during a difficult time— Amelia
Being able to voice note our birth story to the team to then see it turn into tangible change was really quite remarkable.
— Natasha
I gave feedback after my baby spent time in neonatal care. I expected a polite thank you email but we got updates, a face to face conversation and action.
